Before You Go

One last thing,
before you go,
there are a few more
task you have to do.

You must take back the
last time we kissed and
remove this feeling of
your lips on mine.

The scent of you must
be removed from all
my clothes and the
towels and sheets.

Pictures must be burned
and memories erased,
that blanket cannot stay,
or the plant, or the cat.

Be gentle throwing your
luggage about, remember
that you carry with you
my heart.

Not
that I shall
be needing it
again.

  1. I like the idea of asking her to remove all trace of herself.

  2. I’m glad it ends on a hopeful note!

Oh this is so sad – sometimes difficult to remove traces of the memories of others…

    The end says it best…

Some of what I write is true, some is fiction; most is merely possibility.
