a babe

a babe, they said —
born of woman, but not
of man —
would rule the world,
a king of kings,
righteous, wise and just.

a child, they said,
shall teach them and show
the way,
wise beyond his years,
instructing scholars
and giving true knowledge.

a man, they said,
will be created to suffer,
and die,
hands and feet pierced
by his enemies
to bear the price of our inequity.

a Lord, it is written,
will be a savior
for us all,
babe, child, man, God,
born to die,
so that we all may live.

  3. to rephrase for today, yes, indeed kids will rule, they already do..

  4. A fitting eulogy! He should suffer was something of an uncommon end to conflicts of the time. Nicely Mark!

  5. Amen! And Merry Christmas my friend.

  6. yep… so true… just imagine how it must have been to be alive when all this happened… happy belated christmas to you mark

  7. A perfect reflection on the life, the true person, that this baby would become. I really liked the progression of this poem, from baby to child, to man, to Lord.

Some of what I write is true, some is fiction; most is merely possibility.
