Spring

She knows why they are
here,
alone on this knoll
away from customary
chaperons,
but she is not yet ready.

He is a gentleman,
he will wait.

She enjoys the scenic view,
the colors of new spring,
warmth on her skin.

For him, everything beyond
her is a blur.
