she found
color in the chaos,
dreams in the destruction,
hope in the horror.

he hid in her shadow,
knowing that keeping
her close was
the only way
to defeat tears.

  1. intriguing verse man….i like her strength in the first part…or maybe it is her hope that is strong…it makes for an interesting contrast for me in the second stanza…his need to hide her away…when her light is so bright…to keep back the tears….

I liked this, the strength of both “he” and “she” is matched by the strength in brevity.

What a fine and contrasting piece. Compare it to @rosross, who showed us a much bleaker peicture. Yet here, you show the colors—indeed the color in the chaos, the hope in the horror. It’s so interesting to see how two poets view the same image from such diverse points of view. Great stuff.

  4. The heart can still shine ..even if the body is weak and dying..

Ooh, really like this! Especially the sound and meaning in the opening: “she found color in the chaos, dreams in the destruction”

Some of what I write is true, some is fiction; most is merely possibility.
