Holes

I hollowed out a hole,
just there, to the right
of my soul.
An overripe circle
of sentimentality,
a place to store
my soundless phantoms
while their questions
wither from lack of
answers.
They are restless though,
these questing beasts,
silence being deficient
for their needs.
Often, they escape
confinement,
whirling through heart
and thought
until I relinquish my
hold and allow their
freedom.

  1. An extraordinary poem. I loved it.

    Line 12: Beasts?

  2. I love this poem. Very deep. Very true. Very good. ^_^

  3. “just there, to the right
of my soul” … I love that you put it here. And that you made it mushy and messy (overripe). Soundless, restless beasts they are indeed. Dark and scary ending, I’d say. What havoc their freedom may cause. How long do allow them to roam before you lock them back up?

  4. “An overripe circle

    my soundless phantoms
    while their questions
    wither from lack of
    answers.”

This section of the poem really stood out to me. Wonderful poem!

  5. So many wonderful phrases–I’m very impressed! Loved it 🙂

  6. Striking piece. Your words grip the emotions.

  7. Beautiful. First time here, thanks to Poets United. Loved the “soundless phantoms,” Relinquishing your hold on these thoughts may get you into trouble, but I say, let ’em run amok! Peace, Amy

  8. Agreeing with Amy’s comment, above.

Some of what I write is true, some is fiction; most is merely possibility.
