Playthings

She stays hidden behind
the sunglasses
while the glint from lip glossed
lips — firm and ripe
like forbidden fruit–
enslaves me.

Her smile promises…nothing.

A tease, toying with playthings,
able to lacerate my dignity
with a deft touch.

I only realize the damage
done as I watch her
walk away…
again.

don't walk away from me now.

don’t walk away from me now. (Photo credit: Beni Ishaque Luthor)

  1. The image of lacerated dignity is quite striking/startling for me. The cruelty becomes most evident.

  2. Awww… love hurts sometimes.

  3. Nicely done–good capture of the feelings that come from unrequited love.

  4. oh wonderful imagery here, well done

    “again”

Oh, the lessons of life! Sometimes we have to be taught over and over…again!

    A Threesome

  6. never allow lonliness to drive you back into the arms of someone you know you don’t belong with. when someone loves you they don’t have to say it you cn tell by the way they treat you. Someone said this and I believe it. Your post is great but if true so very sad!

  7. Nicely emotional and flows well. A joy to read.

  8. Delicious. This is my favorite part: “A tease, toying with playthings, able to lacerate my dignity with a deft touch.”

Some of what I write is true, some is fiction; most is merely possibility.
