Transient

Turn from the lakeside —
as intricate plans multiply
in your thoughts — bad
decisions left as a prisoner
of the murky depths.

Listen to the blades of ice
form in your footsteps —
a trail for others to follow —
as you leave this land

in search of another
winter empire to rule.

  1. This is my favorite part:
“a trail for others to follow –
    as you leave this land
    in search of another
    winter empire to rule”

What a chilling ending; he sounds scary. Makes me think of Narnia and the winter that never ends.

  2. Ooooooo. This is so pretty:
“Listen to the blades of ice
    form in your footsteps”

  3. The sound of skates on ice swished in my ears after reading this. Atmospheric.

Some of what I write is true, some is fiction; most is merely possibility.
