Rescue

embrace me
fully
so that I
may find
hope
in your
love

touch me
gently
reminiscent
of times
without
despair

hold me
close
banish my
memories
of abuse
and
neglect.

  1. That was an unexpected ending. Beautiful words

  2. Mark, what a meaningful poem you have written here. I have 3 dogs and would have more if I could. My youngest was a rescue. A toy fox terrier hoarder had 54 in a home. Basil was one of the very young puppies rescued. He is so lucky to have me (us); and I am so lucky to have him. You used the words in a way that gave them great impact. Thank you.

We too have a rescue dog. Nice piece. I wish more folks would abandon puppy mills and save the thousands in need of a home.

  4. Oh, this was so beautiful. I didn’t see the photo at first and it was a lovely surprise. Well done. I enjoyed this very much.

  5. I have two right now, and wish I could rescue them all. Lovely poem.

Some of what I write is true, some is fiction; most is merely possibility.
