Hard Decisions

We read the articles,
research the possibilities,
seek out the experts —
no eureka moments.

Gazing into the crystal
leads only to murky
visions and the tears
of hard decisions.

Crystal Ball

Well, today pretty much sucks. One of our beloved pets has suddenly become very aggressive with our other dogs, to the point of me having to pry her jaws open to release the neck of another. She is exceptionally sweet to us, fun loving and craving of attention, but everything we read and everyone we talk to leads us to pretty limited options. None of which we like. Today pretty much sucks.

  1. I apologize for not linking back to the prompts today. On top of everything else, at a different computer and struggling. This was for One Single Impression and Sunday Scribblings.

  2. It’s always hard to know where to find the answers, what’s the right decision. I like what you’ve done with this prompt.

  3. sorry about the dog…hope it turns out good…for you and the dog …no crystal ball here or eureka moments…maybe a dog talker…he or she would know what’s in the dog’s mind…

  4. It sounds like you have a tough decision to make concerning your dog. We’ve been there and it’s not easy. I wish you well and hope you choose what’s right for everyone.

  5. Mark, you have my sympathy, Any decision will be hard to make, and your poem says it all.

  6. I am so sorry, Mark. I have known dogs that turned, usually because of some sort of brain cancer… that doesn’t make it easier. For you to share this “lack of Eureka” on this prompt is brave, and I thank you for allowing us to extend our support. Mine, too, is an off-putting moment. I wish you and your family the best as you explore options, and peace with your decision… love, Amy

    • Thank you Amy, We are exploring any possible option. Dogs are like more kids to us. She is only two and has been a good one, this dog-to-dog aggression being the only trouble. To lose her for any reason would be heartbreaking. Hoping for the best, wish I was optimistic.

  7. I am sorry to hear the predicament of your dog. I think your poem is poignant and highlights the dilemma of such a difficult decision.

  8. So sorry to hear about your dog.. i’m sure it’s just a phase! You’ll get through it! Cheer up and yes, optimism always helps.. 🙂
    Black fist of fury!

    Oh no. 😦

  10. crystal is clear and reflects all feelings..

Some of what I write is true, some is fiction; most is merely possibility.
