Distant Lands

Most days her heart
was more elastic,
able to recover from
waking alone;

when it rained
she would sit and look
through clear windows
at the ocean,

fingering the canceled
stamps on the postcards
he would send from
distant lands.

Tears denied as she imagined
where his labors had led him.

Written for Three Word Wednesday. Words to use: Cancel, elastic, labor.

    Rather sad but a little saying a lot.

  3. There is much mystery tucked away in this beautiful poem..you tell us the story..almost without giving away the words..great write..Jae

  4. Beautiful and intriguing. The penned actions hint at her inner thoughts and feelings. I loved it. Well written.

Some of what I write is true, some is fiction; most is merely possibility.
