Memories and Visions

careful study will reveal the
memories found in my fingers —

gold band slips over tip
tracing the lines of your form
writing notes — for you to find
enclosed in tiny fist
prideful point at stage, field
side by side, your hand in mine

visions also can be found
future memories for these hands —

firm handshake of boy turning man
holding on at the end of the aisle
new generations reaching high
pain in inherited swollen knuckles
slower walks and longer smiles
side by side, your hand in mine

Old and young hands

  1. Very nice, Mark. I like this poem, and the opening grabbed me right away.

  3. nicely done ….thanks for sharing your words

Some of what I write is true, some is fiction; most is merely possibility.
